The following groups or Boards are also part of the conversations taking place regarding flood recovery in Minot and throughout the Souris Basin:
- Souris River Joint Water Resources Board - The Souris River Joint Board is made up of representatives from the four counties that lie within the Souris Basin: Bottineau, McHenry, Renville and Ward. The board is the lead agency in developing a flood control plan for the entire basin. Shortly after the Mouse River flood of 2011, the Joint Board asked Governor Dalrymple for assistance in developing flood protection for the entire basin in North Dakota. The North Dakota State Water Commission took on this task, with the Joint Board as the sponsoring agency.
- North Dakota State Water Commission - The Water Commission was asked to assist in preparing a Preliminary Engineering Report that includes an alignment plan that can be used for property acquisitions. The ND Governor is the chairman of this Commission.
- International Souris River Board - This board is a standing board that is under the International Joint Commission, an independent bi-national organization that is responsible for a variety of concerns, including boundary waters, like the Mouse/Souris River. One of the Souris River Board's mandates is to comply with the Boundary Waters Treaty of 1909.
